Daughters are vibrant, active women who are passionate about community service, preserving history, educating children, as well as honoring and supporting those who serve our nation.
They come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America.
By joining the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), you become part of a network of more than 177,000 women who form lifelong bonds, honor their revolutionary ancestors and promote historic preservation, educational ideals, and patriotism in their communities.
Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
Don't know where to start? Fill out a Pedigree Chart (PDF) as completely as you can and bring it with you when you meet with our chapter representative. Many members have used online genealogical sites to help in their research and in filling out the pedigree chart.
By completing the application process, you will discover what other DAR members have discovered: the thrill of finding out how their ancestor helped to achieve American independence.
